Project: Refurbishment

Client: Corran Properties

Our brief was to deliver Grade A office accommodation fit for the demands and aspirations of the business markets in the heart of Charlotte Square in Edinburgh’s New Town.

To restore the architectural integrity of the listed townhouse we carried out a comprehensive restoration and repair which included reinstatement of authentic room proportions by removing unsympathetic corridors and partitions.  We reinstated a layered hierarchy of floor levels unified by a central top lit grand stair and remodelled the garden and parking area to create an attractive courtyard providing a useable central garden amenity space.

To provide better accessibility and more generous wellbeing facilities, the rear was extended with a new traditionally built 5 storey stone clad outshoot. This together with a re-modelling of the rear roofs to form mansards, enabled us to install lifts for the first time into all buildings and improve circulation.

The interior has been enhanced and repaired, with the addition of luxury amenities and cycle storage.  We used a palate of rich earth tones to create a warm and inviting environment.
