Project: Remodelling, refurbishment and fit out

Listing: Category B

Client: Chris Stewart Group

The Devil’s Advocate bar and restaurant is located just off Edinburgh’s High Street, down Advocate’s Close. The refurbished ground floor space of the former boiler room for The Evening News Print rooms and was abandoned, covered in graffiti and overgrown when we started working on it. It has become one of Scotland’s most popular and talked about bars, winning many industry awards. It’s ‘hidden away’ location adds to its atmosphere. To maximise dining space we installed a mezzanine floor, with booth bar seating and kitchen below. In the bar, we used reclaimed timbers from our main project on Advocate’s Close, industrial lighting and exposed brick to complete the stripped back, urban look. With 200+ whiskies and great food on offer it’s worth a visit, anytime of day.
