Motel One, Edinburgh

This project involved the transformation of 5 previously disparate listed buildings into a coherent hotel design that would reflect the contemporary image of Motel One. We designed the new 208 room hotel in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, the UK’s first Motel One, working alongside their team in Berlin. In order, to ensure quality, mock ups were built in Edinburgh, with both Scottish and German teams coming together to approve.

The new hotel is accessed via an existing entrance at the junction of Market Street and Cockburn Street. The ground floor level allows generous front of house facilities, which include lobby and lounge, reception, bar and breakfast areas, which provide active frontage to both streets.
