Project: Architectural remodelling and refurbishment

Listing: Category B listed

Client: Stoneacre

The conversion of the former Distillers House in Edinburgh’s west end consists of 12 serviced apartments on 4 floors with a range of studio and one and two bed units. Set within the ornate period accommodation of this former head office, it was of paramount importance to retain its fine ornate plaster relief ceilings. The large former boardroom now comprises a single open plan 75m2 studio flat, while the director’s office now forms part of a one bed unit with the bedroom accessed through a pair of secret jib doors. The flats share a generous provision of two elegant, curved stairs at either end of a broad central hall on the main floors and richly carved timber panelling and ornate plaster ceiling in the ground floor entrance hall.
