Listing: Category B listed
Client: Stoneacre
The conversion of the former Presbyterian Church on Blackfriars Street in Edinburgh’s Old Town comprises of 10 uniquely formed split level flats as serviced apartments including a commercial unit included on the ground floor. The accommodation was designed within each flat to make optimum use of the building height as well as create spaces of contrasting scale and intimacy. The project involved the erection of a new internal steel frame and superstructure within the historic shell whilst creating stylish contemporary apartments which harmonise with and make the most of the main historic features including tall lancet windows front and rear, intricate timber roof trusses and the intimate corbelled spaces below the bell tower.
